Large cones of 100% long-staple mercerized cotton at 40 weight, 3 ply. Each cone holds 2,500 meters (2,734 yards) — about two and a half standard spools.

It's made for long-arm quilting machines, where a single quilt can eat through thread and stopping to re-thread costs real time. At 40 weight it lays down with a little more presence than 50 weight, so quilting lines read clearly across the top.

Low lint is the other reason quilters buy it by the cone. Long-staple cotton sheds fewer loose fibers, which matters when the machine runs for hours at a stretch. It also works well for serging and general sewing. Available in the thirteen most popular quilting colors.
