How much do I need?
A classic bow takes about 24" of ribbon; a wreath, 3 to 5 yards. When in doubt, buy an extra roll — leftovers always find a project.
Widths and rolls
Grosgrain and velvet come by the roll in widths from 3/8" to 2-1/2". Silk embroidery ribbon is sold on 10-meter spools in 2, 4, and 7mm.
Keeping ends clean
Cut synthetic grosgrain and satin-backed ribbon at an angle and seal the end with a quick pass of a lighter. Trim silk and velvet with sharp shears.
