Crochet a Heart Plushie

Crochet a Heart Plushie

This soft chenille heart plushie works up fast and makes the cutest gift. You’ll crochet two top “bumps,” join them, then work down to shape the point and close.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 ball plush chenille yarn (about 65 yards) in any color
  • Crochet hook size J/10 (6.0mm)
  • Stitch marker
  • Stuffing
  • Optional: yarn needle + scissors

Notes Before You Start

Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each round. Work in continuous rounds unless noted. Chenille can hide stitches, so count rounds as you go.

Part 1: Make the First Top Piece

Start with a magic ring (real or fake).

Round 1: 8 single crochets in ring
Round 2: 16 sc (16)
Round 3: 1 sc + inc x 8 (24)
Round 4: 2 sc + inc x 8 (32)
Rounds 5–6: 32 sc (32)

Fasten off the first piece.

Part 2: Make the Second Top Piece

Repeat the same rounds for the second piece, but do not fasten off when finished.

Join the Two Pieces

Join pieces with 4 sc through both layers.

Body Rounds

Round 7: 28 sc around first piece, then 28 sc around second piece (56)
Round 8: 56 sc (56)
Round 9: 5 sc, dec x 8 (48)
Round 10: 48 sc (48)
Round 11: 4 sc, dec x 8 (40)
Round 12: 40 sc (40)
Round 13: 3 sc, dec x 8 (32)
Rounds 14–15: 32 sc (32)
Round 16: 2 sc, dec x 8 (24)
Round 17: 24 sc (24)

Fill and Close

Fill with stuffing before the opening gets too small.

Round 18: 1 sc, dec x 8 (16)
Round 19: 16 sc (16)
Round 20: dec x 8 (8)

Add a little more stuffing as needed. Continue decreasing until the hole closes, fasten off, and weave in the end.

Final Thoughts

Make a whole set in different colors for gifts. If your stitches feel loose with chenille, go down one hook size for a tighter fit.
