The details

Stretchy thread for seams that have to move

Wooly nylon is a textured thread that stretches with the seam. That is what makes it right for swimwear, lingerie, knits, children's clothing, and activewear — the seam gives instead of snapping.

It also fluffs out to fill the stitch, so it serges beautifully with smooth, strong edges. Run it in the upper and lower loopers for rolled hems and finished edges and you get soft coverage with no scratchy ridge against the skin.

Each spool holds 1,000 meters (1,100 yards), and it comes in 50 colors with a vibrant shine.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Where does wooly nylon go on a serger? +

In the upper and lower loopers. That's where its stretch and coverage do the most good — rolled hems, finished edges, and soft seams.

Why use it instead of regular thread? +

It stretches with the seam. On swimwear, lingerie, knits, and activewear, a non-stretch thread can snap when the fabric gives.

Is it soft against the skin? +

Yes. It fluffs out to fill the stitch, so edges finish smooth without a scratchy ridge.

How much is on a spool? +

1,000 meters — 1,100 yards.

How many colors are there? +

Fifty.

Can I use it in the needles too? +

Most sewists run it in the loopers only and use a standard polyester in the needles. That gives you stretch where it matters without losing seam control.
