The details

Six strands, and you decide how many

Our floss is 100% cotton made from premium Egyptian long-staple fibers, spun as a six-strand divisible thread. Each skein holds 8.75 yards.

Divisible is the whole point. Pull the strands apart and you control the weight of your line — one or two strands for fine outlines and delicate lettering, three for general stitching, all six for bold satin fills and friendship bracelets. One skein covers all of it.

It's double mercerized, which is where the sheen comes from, and it's fully colorfast and fade resistant. Good for hand embroidery, friendship bracelets, tassels, needlepoint, tying quilts, and plenty else.

Good to know

Questions, answered

How long is a skein? +

8.75 yards of six-strand floss.

What does six-strand divisible mean? +

The thread pulls apart into six strands, so you choose the thickness — one or two for fine outlines, three for general stitching, all six for bold fills and bracelets.

Will the color run or fade? +

No. It's 100% colorfast and fade resistant.

Why is it shiny? +

It's double mercerized, which is what gives cotton floss its lustrous sheen. The Egyptian long-staple fiber helps too — longer fibers make a smoother thread.

What can I use it for? +

Hand embroidery, friendship bracelets, tassels, needlepoint, tying quilts, and most craft work that calls for cotton thread.

Do you sell more than one skein of a color? +

Yes — the same color comes in a box of 12 skeins. Use the link above.
