The details

Heavy-duty nylon for the jobs that destroy normal thread

This is #69 bonded nylon — type 66 filament, commercial size 69 (210D/3), government size E, Tex T-70. Each 4 oz cone holds 1,500 meters (1,650 yards).

It's built for things that take abuse: upholstery, drapery, denim, luggage, purses, wallets, shoes, leather, vinyl, awnings, tents, car mats, and hair weaving. It resists UV, abrasion, chemicals, and mildew, which is why it holds up outdoors where ordinary thread rots or fades.

One practical note: #69 is the largest size that still runs well on home sewing machines. Go heavier than this and you'll need an industrial machine.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Will this work on my home sewing machine? +

Yes — #69 is the largest bonded nylon size that still runs well on home machines. Anything heavier needs an industrial machine.

What's it actually for? +

Upholstery, drapery, denim, leather, vinyl, luggage, purses, wallets, shoes, awnings, tents, car mats, and hair weaving - anywhere thread takes real abuse.

Does it hold up outdoors? +

That's its strength. It resists UV, abrasion, chemicals, and mildew, so it doesn't rot or fade the way ordinary thread does.

What size is it exactly? +

Commercial size 69 (210D/3), government size E, Tex T-70. The cone weighs 4 oz.

How much thread is on a cone? +

1,500 meters — 1,650 yards.

What does bonded mean? +

The nylon filaments are coated and fused together, which keeps the plies from separating and helps the thread run smoothly through heavy material.
