What's Inside

• 4 skeins of worsted weight (#4 Medium) cotton yarn in a coordinated vibrant color palette
• 4.0 mm (G-6) crochet hook
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• Printed pattern with round-by-round stitch counts

Project Details

• Skill level: Confident beginner
• Finished size: About 5 in. across
• Pattern: 4 rounds of double crochet plus a scalloped edge, written in US terms
• Stitches used: Magic ring, chain, double crochet, slip stitch
• You'll also need: Scissors, plus a steam iron and pressing cloth for finishing

Why Cotton?

Cotton yarn absorbs condensation from cold drinks and stands up to warm mugs, so it's the classic choice for coasters. The coasters lie flat after steam pressing, and the scalloped border gives them a finished, store-bought look.
